T.B. Player

Born and raised on the NW side of Chicago. Graduated from Western Illinois University after studying Business Administration and Information Science. In my required day job, I continue to serve the corporate world in my chosen profession. Married to my wonderful wife (the S.S. webmadam) and father to a daughter and a son.

Began playing Bass about 25 years ago while in college. Was in a few bands and played the university talent shows. Once in the "real world" I played with a group of friends for many years, but the band was primarily an adjunct to our partying. In the early 90's I had the honor of having the band named after me. "Tom Time" was the name. Since I was the only member who was married with children, the practice schedule was based on when I was available. I needed to quit the band after a while… I didn't have time for it ! Cool thing was they kept the name and used it for a couple more years.

Having played off-and-on (mostly off) for many years it was my good fortune to stumble into the current arrangement of the Sarcastic Saints. The Saints is an exceptional situation for many reasons; We are all at the same stage of life with regards to family and career. We are past (almost) the stage of ego and posturing when it comes to the dynamics of being in a band. We have very similar musical interests and goals. And we are still together and moving forward. Anyone who has ever been in a band or tried to start one will agree that few make it past the first rehearsal. My hope is that the Saints are around for a long time, having fun and getting better at what we enjoy.

My musical interests and influences are widely varied. Have listened and played everything from Classic Rock to Modern Pop, Punk to Ska, Motown to 80's Techno. I am not a formally trained musician, when not learning new tunes with the Saints I try and study music theory and composition, but I spend a lot of time simply listening to tunes and figuring them out by ear.

Come out to our next gig and have some fun!
